Nike is ready to release its first-ever vegan leather SB Dunk.  Following the sustainability trend in the footwear market, Nike has decided to incorporate vegan leather into its SB Dunk line.  The “Baroque Brown” colorway consists of an entirely brown upper accented by green laces.  The midsole on this pair is white, and the outsole is also green.

Even though this vegan leather construction will reduce CO2 emissions as part of the move to sustainability and seems to be a win for the animal rights activists, there is still some controversy in the sneaker community.  One worry is the durability of this material since these are sneakers made for skateboarding. Even people who do not skate seem to be concerned that this vegan leather will not age well.   It will be interesting to see how these SB Dunks hold up after they are released.

If you live in the united states, you may be bummed out to hear that this pair will be releasing exclusively in Mexico and Europe sometime in Late Jan-February 2021.
