To kickstart 2021, anticipate the newest season of the Jordan Brand, as Nike releases the Air Jordan 13 Starfish. The Air Jordan 13 Starfish Orange is set to lead the release of the 2021 season, with iterations derived from the timeless classic. 

Air Jordan 13: Its History

Paying homage to the 1997 classic during Michael Jordan’s so-called “Last Dance,” timeless fans, Basketball and the Jordan Brand alike, are sure to relive the legacy with the new AJ13 Starfish. Borrowing the genius of longtime shoe designer, Tinker Hatfield, the silhouette of the Air Jordan 13 Starfish also features a jewel at the heel of the shoes. This jewel symbolizes the eye of the panther. A nickname Basketball fans gave to Michael Jordan.

The Anatomy of the Starfish

The orange colorway finds its derivations from the women-only Jordan 3 Laser Orange. The color combination of black, orange, and white can also be said to have drawn inspiration from one of Michael Jordan’s first signature colorways, the Shattered Backboard.

With the overall Starfish tone of the new Air Jordan 13 drawing inspiration of the phenomenal Jordan 1 Mid, it retains a contrast of colors with black thrown in the color palette. The “JORDAN” branding is in black and the signature Jumpman logo, which is found printed on the tongue. 

The overlays of the new Air Jordan 13 are clad in white. The leather component of the shoes is also in white. 

The outsoles also allude to another Michael Jordan reference; the panther paw is also in a classic black. 

Nike is set to drop the Air Jordan 13 Starfish to the public on January 2, 2021. Labled at $190, the Air Jordan 13 will sell on the Nike Website.
