pa·ti·na

/pəˈtēnə/

  • A green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation over a long period.
  • A gloss or sheen on a surface resulting from age or polishing.

If you are a fan of antiques or have ever watched the television show American Pickers, you have probably heard the word “patina”.

Patina is often highly prized because it shows the age and helps tell the story of an object. It is suitable that the Air Jordan 1 has a “Patina” finish because the AJ1 most definitely has age and a great story.

The Air Jordan 1 “Patina” colorway is also known as “Light Army Fresh Mint”. However, it really doesn’t seem like “Light Army Fresh Mint” is the best way to describe these Jordan 1’s because even though Light Army covers the rear quarter, Fresh Mint is only seen on the tongue tag branding. Also, the name “Light Army Fresh Mint” leaves out, in my opinion, the real star of this colorway, which is the worn copper color on the toe, eyelets, and Swoosh.

The remainder of the upper is Black, while a Sail midsole and Black outsole finish everything off.

You can get yourself some Patina on March 25th at Nike SNKRS for $170.
